Touted as the PC industry's first integrated audio solutions validated for use with forthcoming Intel mobile and desktop core logic chip sets, the SoundMAX audio IC is said to deliver 90-dB SNR, professional-quality sound output while cutting size, cost and power consumption in half. This is achieved by removing unnecessary PCI interfaces and running much of the audio signal processing on the PC host processor. The device comprises an audio codec, amplifiers and driver software, and offers several specific features for commercial desktop and notebook PCs. These include full-duplex operation at independent record and playback sample rates. The solutions provide PC 99-compliant sample rate conversion and active pop, clicking and zipper noise correction under Windows 95/98/2000/NT driver control.
