Claimed as the industryÕs fastest and most powerful mobile workstation GPU, the Mobility Fire GL 7800 chip is designed for 3D animation and CAD/CAM applications. The graphics IC incorporates the companyÕs RADEON technology and features 64 MB of 128-bit DDR memory and support for 3D resolutions up to 2,048 x 1,536 pixels in 32-bit color. Its Pixel Tapestry 3D rendering engine delivers 1.6 Gtexels/s in 32-bit resolution. The chip also includes Hydravision, which provides advanced multi-monitor management software. With this feature, users can define up to nine multi-monitor configurations. In addition, the chip employs the companyÕs Powerplay voltage and frequency scaling technology, which modulates clock speeds and voltage settings automatically when users switch between ac and battery operation. Powerplay also includes the option of user-selectable voltage/frequency scaling, allowing for maximum performance even when running off of battery power.
