With fast read access times of 45 ns, the newest members of the firm's 39 Series of x16 flash memory devices are said to make them ideal solutions of program code storage for GPS navigation systems, MP3 players, PDAs, DSL, DVD, CD-RW, modems, disk drives, and other communication and networking applications. The new products include the 39VF800A, an 8-Mbit device, the 39VF400A, a 4-Mbit device, and the 39VF200A, a 2-Mbit device. The devices are available in x16 configurations and use a single voltage supply of 2.7V to 3.6V for read, program and erase.
The three devices are designed using a small, uniform sector architecture of 4 kbyte which is said to provide better software granularity to system designers. The products offer a large, uniform block erase capability for faster erase operation and programming and erase speeds of 20 µs per work for programming. Pricing starts at $2.10 each/100,000 for the SST39VF200A device.
