Claimed as the smallest such devices available, the 24LC128 and 24LC256 I2C serial EEPROMs come in 128- and 256-Kb densities, respectively, and in 8-lead MSOPs measuring just 1.1 mm in height. Introduced as miniaturized versions of the 24LC128 and 24LC256 series, the chips are designed with the company’s PMOS electrically erasable cell (PEEC) process technology. Depending on the device, the EEPROMs can operate at voltages as low as 1.8V and active currents as low as 1 mA. Standby currents range to less than 1 µA, also depending on the device. Prices for the 24LC128 and 24LC256 are $0.95 and $1.35, respectively, each/10,000. MICROCHIP TECHNOLOGY INC., Chandler, AZ. (480) 792-7669.
