Enlarging the M45PE family of serial flash devices, the 1-Mb M45PE10 and 2-Mb M45PE20 vie for applications involving large amounts of rapidly changing parameter data. Access to each is by way of a SPI bus with a clock speed of 25 MHz. Similar to their familial ancestors, users can erase and program each 256-byte page individually, updating between 1 and 256 bytes of data. Write and program times for a 256-byte page are 11 ms and 1.2 ms, respectively. Additionally, the devices operate from a 2.7V to 3.6V supply and consume 1 µA in power-down mode. Other features include an operating temperature from -40°C to +85°C, data retention span of 20 years, and a write endurance of 100,000 cycles. Prices for the M45PE10 and M45PE20 are $1.10 and $1.25 each, respectively, in volume. STMICROELECTRONICS INC., Lexington, MA. (781) 861-2650.
