Two ARM7-based flash MCUs contain an embedded 10/100 Ethernet MAC, CAN, full speed USB 2.0 and a high-speed AES/3DES encryption engine. The AT91SAM7X128/7X256 are aimed at extensively networked, real-time systems. On-chip are a 10-bit ADC, two serial peripheral interfaces (SPIs), three UARTs, an 8-level priority interrupt controller and a full complement of supervisory functions. The 50 MIPS MCUs have 32 or 64 Kb of SRAM and 128 or 256 Kb of 25 ns flash memory that supports deterministic processing as required for real-time control systems. A peripheral DMA controller connects each MCU peripheral directly to on-chip memory allowing high-throughput data transfers without any processor overhead. Both versions come in a 100-lead LQFP green package. Pricing for the 7X128 is $7.20 each/10,000 and for the 7X256, $8.65 each. ATMEL CORP., San Jose, CA. (408) 441-0311.
