Well suited for embedded applications such as factory automation, healthcare monitoring and retail point-of-sale scanners, the MCF532x and MCF537x processors are the first ColdFire devices to feature an on-chip USB host module and a USB on-the-go module. Both families employ the V3 core, which delivers up to 211 MIPS at 240 MHz. In addition, the MCF532x family provides an LCD controller. Other shared features include a CAN module, Fast Ethernet controller, hardware encryption accelerator, and four different low-power management modes. Development platforms for the devices include a plug-in system that can be designed directly into an application. Prices for the MCF532x and MCF537x start at $10 and $11 each/10,000, respectively.
