Integrating an RF tuner, a demodulator, and a USB 2.0 bridge, the DIB7770 from DiBcom offers designers a "3-in-1" solution for creating very small and affordable USB 2.0 television accessories for high-quality reception of digital TV. The device will simplify DVB-T digital reception on all portable systems that have a USB 2.0 internal or external peripheral (such as Mini Cards or Express Cards) in the more than 30 countries where the standard has been adopted and deployed. The DIB7770 also integrates the surface acoustic wave (SAW) filters and other discrete components needed, resulting in DVB-T receivers that are among the smallest and most complete on the market, with performance superior to "in-can" tuners, according to DiBcom.
Their linearity and performance allows these receivers to surpass the Nordig2 and MBRAI specifications with a very low power consumption of less than 500 mW, which suits use in digital terrestrial television reception on PCs, ultra-mobile PCs, or portable media players. The DIB7770 can be used in UHF or VHF tuners and in either single mode or diversity mode (dual antennas). The dual-antenna scheme improves television coverage by more than 50% in locations with limited reception, like urban areas and indoors.
