Targeted at PDAs and mobile wireless devices, the new MQ1188 Multimedia Platform Controller operates at twice the clock rate of earlier MediaQ chips—66 MHz. This speed boosts the performance of graphics functions such as color image capturing and rendering and video playback. Other features include an embedded frame buffer, 64-bit 2D graphics engine and 12 MB/s SDIO controller. Core voltage of the device is programmable for operation at 1.35V to 1.65V, while I/O voltage ranges from 2.375V to 3.6V. With an advanced 0.15µ low-leakage process technology, the chip is designed for ultra low power consumption. Samples of the MQ-1188 are available immediately, with volume production scheduled for Q4 2002. Pricing is less than $10 each/10,000. MEDIAQ INC., Santa Clara, CA. (408) 733-0080.
