PGA Socket Holds Pentium III Processors

product pic

The Micro PGA socket is designed for the Intel Mobile Pentium II processor. This 495-circuit socket accepts various Intel mobile processors with speeds up to 650 MHz. With height of only 2 mm, these zero insertion force (ZIF) SMT sockets are intended for thin and lightweight notebook PCs. Based on a 1.27 mm grid array, the sockets provide almost double the pin density in a third of the size of traditional through-hole PGA sockets. The socket accepts a thin PCB interposer that has the processor mounted to it. The interposer's micro PGA pins are inserted into the socket and a ZIF actuation cover engages the contacts by simply turning a cam mechanism with a screwdriver.
