Promising to extend battery life while reducing interference, and increasing bandwidth and data rates in ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs), the 9UM9000 and 9UM700 series timing devices require a 1.5V power supply, as opposed to 3.3V for standard timing devices. The UMPC timing devices reportedly extend wireless signal range and improve bandwidth, resulting in faster data transfer rates, by supporting spread spectrum for reducing EMI and programmable slew rate for reducing RFI. They are currently available in 32- to 56-pin SSOP and QFN packages. Prices range from $1.25 to $1.95 each/10,000. INTEGRATED DEVICE TECHNOLOGY INC., Santa Clara, CA. (800) 345-7015.
