Its ETL SEMKO’S* NRTL recognition now includes Stockholm Laboratory-- 13 recognized NRTL test sites are more than any other OSHA recognized private organization

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Boxborough, Mass., expanded the scope of the Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) status held by Intertek Testing Services NA Inc. (d.b.a. ITS ETL SEMKO*) to include an additional product safety testing site in Stockholm, Sweden. This distinction is an official acknowledgment by OSHA that the Stockholm laboratory can perform independent testing per the product safety standards covered in ITS ETL SEMKO’s scope of recognition, viewable at http://www.osha-slc.gov/dts/otpca/nrtl/its.html. Compliance with product safety standards is required for nearly all electrical products sold in the United States, including household appliances, lighting equipment and, among others, medical devices.

With 13 recognized product safety testing sites, including nine in the United States and others in Vancouver, Hong Kong and Taiwan, ITS ETL SEMKO has more NRTL sites than any other private organization currently recognized by OSHA.

“Adding Stockholm to our already impressive list of recognized NRTL sites isn’t just a distinction for ITS ETL SEMKO, it’s tremendously beneficial to manufacturers,” said Paul Moliski, director of accreditation, ITS ETL SEMKO. “European manufacturers in particular will realize significant time and cost benefits with access to an NRTL in their own backyards.”
