In order to continue its focus on accelerating future growth, Littelfuse Inc., Des Plaines, Ill., recently announced the appointment of David Samyn as general manager of its electronic business. Samyn, who has had a vast amount of experience developing and implementing successful growth strategies in the electronics industry, will report to Howard Witt, chairman, president and CEO. Samyn will be replacing Bill Barron in this role, as Barron moves on to pursue other outside interests. Witt indicated that future initiatives will build upon the strong base built during Barron's years with the company.
According to Witt, Samyn will aggressively focus on the refinement and execution of Littelfuse's long-range business plan to offer the broadest range of circuit protection solutions in the industry.
“David's expertise in strategy formulation and execution in the electronics industry is exactly what we need. With the infrastructure and circuit protection technologies in place, Littelfuse is ready to provide our customer base with the best possible circuit protection solutions,” said Witt.
Samyn was most recently vice president-global sales with Airfiber Inc., an optical wireless telecom company in San Diego, Calif. Before that, he was with ADC Telecommunications having global sales and marketing responsibilities for five years, including an expatriate position in Belgium as vice president Europe, Middle East, Africa. He was also with Raychem Corp. from 1990 to 1996, with responsibility for growing that company's electronic circuit protection business in both polymer overcurrent devices as well as overvoltage components. While at Raychem, he was based in France for two years as manager of marketing and sales, Europe, and in Menlo Park, Calif., as product marketing manager telecommunications components.
