The DS1086L spread-spectrum EconOscillator™ from Dallas Semiconductor is the world's smallest low-EMI, 3-V, all-silicon clock oscillator. With six user-programmable spread settings from 0% to 8%, it offers up to 23-dB reduction in radiated emissions (RMS voltage) relative to crystal oscillators.

The DS1086L can be used as a stand-alone oscillator to generate clock outputs from 4.9 kHz to 66 MHz. It has a power-down mode and an output-enable control for power-sensitive applications. The DS1086L can simplify or eliminate shielding and filtering while reducing cost and minimizing design time. In addition, the DS1086L operates in the 2.7-V to 3.6-V range and is available in the tiny 8-pin microSOP.
