Texas Instruments’ (TI) new family of low-dropout linear regulators (LDOs) features the industry's highest power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and ultralow noise for 200-mA, noise-sensitive applications with negative voltages. The highly accurate, low-power LDOs support battery-powered applications, including portable charge-coupled device (CCD) cameras and PDA displays, and applications with noise-sensitive circuitry such as optical drives, optical networking and video amplifiers.

The new TPS723xx high performance regulators exhibit 60 µV (RMS) of output noise, and provide a PSRR of 65 dB at 1 kHz to prevent noise coupling from the power supply. The devices are capable of operating with input voltages of -10 V to -2.7 V, and support output voltages ranging from -10 V to -1.2 V. The TPS723xx LDOs are stable with small, low-cost ceramic capacitors, and include enable (EN) and noise reduction (NR) functions. In addition, they use a precision voltage reference to achieve 1% initial accuracy, and 2% over load, line and temperature variations.
