Advanced Analogic Technologies Inc.’s new AAT3190 charge pump controller provides regulated positive and negative voltage biases for portable applications. Designed to meet the extremely tight space constraints in flat panel LCD, Organic LED (OLED) and CCD image sensor applications, the AAT3190 features two low-power charge pumps that convert input supply voltages ranging from 2.7 V to 5 V into two independent output voltages. The dual charge pumps independently regulate positive and negative output voltages up to ±25 V using external diode and capacitor multiplier stages.

The AAT3190 operates at a 1-MHz switching frequency, allowing the use of very small external capacitors. By eliminating the use of large inductors, the device is suitable for low-profile TFT LCD modules and flat panel display subsystems and other space-constrained portable environments.

The device features internally controlled soft-start circuitry, which prevents excessive in-rush current during start-up. To minimize power consumption, a shutdown feature disconnects the load from VIN and reduces quiescent current to less than 1.0 µA. The AAT3190 is specified to operate in the industrial (-40°C to 85°C) temperature range.
