Power Paper Ltd. has opened North American offices for its PowerID Division, to be based in Burr Ridge, Ill. The company's North American operations will be led by Larry Tindell, director of U.S. sales, and Don Malloy, director of technology. With more than 40 years of combined high-tech experience, these two veterans of the RFID industry will spearhead Power Paper's efforts to build a strong business base and promote the benefits of battery-assisted RFID.

Power Paper is the developer of the PowerID System, a high-performance, low-cost, turnkey RFID label system that vastly improves the reliability of remote monitoring, processing and transmitting data in the supply chain. The PowerID System, which was jointly developed with Graphic Solutions, International, is intended to provide Fortune 500 companies with the tools to comply with the recent RFID mandates from the leading U.S. retailers and government offices. PowerID's UHF-based, battery-assisted backscatter labels combine the best features of active tags and passive backscatter labels, providing superior reliability and reading distances of up to 60 feet for supply chain and asset management, transport and logistics applications, and works in progress production environments.

“The tremendous reception our PowerID System has received in North America following numerous demonstrations has created strong demand, leading to our decision to establish a dedicated U.S.-based team,” said Power Paper CEO Shalom Daskal. “Larry and Don are both leaders in the industry with a proven track record, and I am confident that they will each be a tremendous asset to the PowerID division.”
