Another roadblock for electric vehicles

The government is finally taking a look at all the ancillary problems people might have with rechargeable electric vehicles and why these cars and trucks may not be for everyone. The U.S. Energy Information Administration (eia.gov), for example, asked consumers in a recent residential survey about the accessibility of household outlets for recharging electric cars. It seems about 60% of residents in single-family detached homes park within 20 ft of an electrical outlet and could recharge an electric vehicles. But only 14% of apartments have a plug close enough for recharging. This is a problem, says EIA, because electric vehicles are touted as cars for city driving and many city residents live in apartments or condos.
