Intel and Nokia are collaborating to ensure compatibility between the companies' WiMAX wireless products and compliance with industry standards. WiMAX compatibility will make it easier for consumers to roam from network to network for an always-connected mobile experience, according to an Intel release. "WiMAX will translate into people being able to take their favorite Internet experiences — be it watching videos, streaming music or doing research on the Internet — on the go without compromising on quality," Ari Virtanen, Vice President of Nokia Multimedia, said in a statement. Nokia also said it will use Intel's WiMAX chip "Baxter Peak," for its Nseries Internet Tablets, which will be among the first WiMAX-enabled open Internet devices. The tablets provide a Internet service on a multimedia computer platform small enough to fit in a pocket. "Intel, Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks all recognize our collective responsibility in ensuring that people can take full advantage of WiMAX," Raviv Melamed, general manager of Intel's Mobile Wireless Group, said in a statement.
