Programmable logic device provider Xilinx said it has hit record sales of its 90nm and 65nm devices, due to the broad adoption of 90nm and 65nm devices in consumer and communications applications. A significant amount of revenue has been generated by demand in Asia Pacific. Sales of consumer and communications devices there have increased nearly 500 percent since the same quarter a year ago. "We're seeing record level design win activity for our new products on both 90nm and 65nm geometries as customers throughout Asia adopt Xilinx solutions to meet technical and time-to-market demands," Wim Roelandts, Chairman and CEO of Xilinx, said in a statement. According to the company, Xilinx has about 70 percent of the market share for 90nm and 65nm products. The programmable logic device market is expected to continue to grow as new requirements are forcing the need for flexible architectures that can handle both current and future applications.
