1-W DC-DC Converters Raise Efficiency Bars

Nov. 21, 2008
Specifying typical efficiencies from 84%, the single-output MEV and dual-output MEA series 1-W dc-dc converters from Murata Electronics deliver a load-regulation performance of less than 5% with an overall load-regulation tolerance envelope of 9%.

Specifying typical efficiencies from 84%, the single-output MEV and dual-output MEA series 1-W dc-dc converters from Murata Electronics deliver a load-regulation performance of less than 5% with an overall load-regulation tolerance envelope of 9%. The MEV components provide 3 kV dc of galvanic isolation to reduce switching noise, while the MEA series includes 1 kV dc of isolation.

Available in SIP 7 packages measuring 19.5 by 6 by 10 mm, both series offer input voltages of either 5 V or 12 V, output voltages ranging from 5 V to 15 V and an operating temperature range from -40ºC to 85ºC at 1 W with free-air convection cooling. Prices in OEM quantities start at $5 each.
