Microcontroller and analog chip provider Microchip Technology launched ICwiki, a Web site where engineers, students and professors can share information related to chips. The site, www.microchip.com/ICwiki, lets visitors change content, write blogs, vote and send messages to each other. ICwiki was designed to help engineers share knowledge about designs and applications, and to help students gain access to industry knowledge that will be useful in their transition from academia to industry. The site is divided into sections, including vertical markets like automotive, home appliances and robotics; function topics like algorithms, oscillators, and PCB layout best practices; and product topics like microcontrollers, analog, and memory products. The wiki is an extension of the University of Microchip, which offers training through field applications teams, training centers and conferences, according to Mitch Little, vice president of worldwide sales and applications for Microchip. "ICwiki promotes the collaboration between academia and industry that is crucial to the future of the electronics industry, and we are thrilled to be the first in the semiconductor industry to provide such a resource," Little said in a statement.
