To enhance and accelerate next-generation cable, satellite, IP, and terrestrial set-top box products, Broadcom is working closely with OpenTV to develop advanced features and capabilities that promise to enhance the consumer viewing experiences. Addressing current OpenTV Core2 and next generation components, the companies will collaborate to devise platforms for digital content that consumers, broadcasters, operators, and device manufacturers can easily adopt. For example, abetting OpenTV's vision for set-top box, PVR, and interactive services, Broadcom's BCM7400 dual-channel AVC/VC-1/MPEG-2 video decoder features a high-performance processor and 3D animation functionality. Other examples include the BCM7401 high-definition (HD) AVC/VC-1/MPEG-2 SoC with watch/record DVR, BCM7402 HD AVC/VC-1/MPEG-2 digital video SoC, and the BCM7018 standard definition AVC/VC-1/MPEG-2 video decoder with DOCSIS 2.0 and downstream channel bonding.
