SanDisk Opens Shanghai Plant
SanDisk opened its first production facility in China to assemble and test advanced flash memo

SanDisk opened its first production facility in China to assemble and test advanced flash memory products for mobile and other consumer electronics devices. The Shanghai-based plant will manufacture a range of products, from 4 and 8 memory-die stacks required in high-capacity microSD, SDHC(TM) and Memory Stick Micro cards for mobile devices to flash memory-based System-in-a-Package (SiP) for compact devices like mobile phones. The new 34,000-square-meter facility is a vertically integrated production operation that will perform every facet of production, from receiving wafers from company fabs to shipping completed orders. Its production capacity is expected to meet about 30 percent of SanDisk's SiP products projected global demand. "Shanghai is a strategic location that is close to our supply partners and allows us to stay ahead of the curve as we seek to bring our products to market faster," Sanjay Mehrotra, president and Chief Operating Officer at SanDisk, said in a statement.
