In a move that will further strengthen its storage services portfolio, IBM will acquire NovusCG, a privately held storage solutions company based in Manassas, Va. IBM intends for the aquisition to provide clients with improved information technology services and to help standardize regulatory compliance. Novus will be integrated into the Storage and Data Services unit of IBM Global Technology Services. The unit also purchased Softek Storage solutions earlier this year as a part of IBM's continuing strategy to provide standardized services. "This provides what clients have been missing — the information that will allow them to align their IT and business strategies," Val Rahmani, general manager of Infrastructure Management Services for IBM Global Technology Services, said in a statement. Novus serves a large client base, from multi-national Fortune 500 corporations to mid-market clients, and has a presence in a number of industries including banking, finance, government, health care, retail and telecommunications. "Combining our unique approach to analyzing and assessing data with IBM's industry-leading storage services portfolio allows us to help clients solve a variety of storage-related problems," Sean Garvey, president, chief executive officer and co-founder of NovusCG, said in a statement. IBM has worked with Novus on services engagements since 2003. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
