“Create the Future” Design Contest Offers $20,000 Prize

April 2, 2014
The 12th annual “Create the Future” Design Contest is asking for submissions from a variety of different technical fields.

This year’s “Create the Future” Design Contest, which is sponsored by COMSOL and Mouser, is now open. The contest runs through July 1, 2014. The 12th annual contest, which also is sponsored by Intel and Analog Devices, is produced by Tech Briefs Media Group. Categories for this year’s contest include: aerospace and defense, automotive/transportation, consumer products, electronics, machinery/automation/robotics, medical products, and sustainable technologies. New product concepts, as well as designs introduced within the last year, are eligible.

Previously, the contest has produced submissions that increase quality of life, improve healthcare, and reduce the need for non-renewable energy sources. The ChemoPatch, for example, can deliver early-stage chemotherapy in developing countries. Among other entrants was a small device allowing smartphones to run low-cost sensing applications and a fast screening device used to prevent food-borne illness.

The grand prize is $20,000. Team or individual products can be submitted. An independent industry panel will judge the contest, but the public is encouraged to vote for its favorites. Information regarding entering the contest and voting can be found here
