EaglePicher Technologies Awarded Battery Energy Storage System Contract

EaglePicher Technologies, LLC announced that it has been selected by ATK Launch Systems, a subsidiary of Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK), to design and construct a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at a Utah facility.  ATK, the world's top producer of solid rocket propulsion systems and a leading supplier of aircraft structures, will utilize EPT's PowerPyramid™ technology to provide peak-shaving energy solutions with a 300kW/1.2MWh system at its 20,000-acre manufacturing site in Promontory, Utah.

EaglePicher is aggressively developing battery solutions in the quickly emerging Grid Energy Storage Market to meet application demands. The company has established the PowerPyramid™, a patent pending hybrid solution that surpasses conventional storage techniques by leveraging the potential of multiple storage technologies. It has the capability of managing a single chemistry or multiple chemistries that provide virtually instantaneous power that will meet requirements of the various scales of power deviation occurring in intermittent renewable energy sources or grid-scale energy storage applications.

EaglePicher unveiled their 2MWh demonstrator system this year at their Crossroads facility in Joplin, Missouri. This multi-tiered battery system controls and regulates supply and demand of wind, solar and grid power.
