The Power Sources Manufacturers Association Transportation Power Electronics Technical Committee is sponsoring the APEC Industry Session “Transportation Power Electronics.”
Featuring speakers from industry and government research laboratories who will discuss the new and evolving technologies shaping the transportation market, the session will take place at APEC 2016 on March 23, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 5:25 p.m., at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, California. The increasing power electronics content – not only on automobiles but also on aircraft, off-road, commercial and industrial vehicles – represents a large growing market for the transportation industry. At the Transportation Power Electronics Industry Session (IS12), experts from Caterpillar, the University Texas Dallas, Plug Power, National Renewable Energy Lab, Infineon, the Department of Energy and Synthesis Partners will explore new opportunities, especially for the electric drive vehicle market.
PSMA Transportation Power Electronics Committee co-chairs, Ralph Taylor of Delphi and Fred Weber of Future Technology Worldwide, issued this joint statement: “Electric drive vehicles result in demanding requirements for designers of power electronics and for the packaging and component technologies that enable them. The technologies essential to success in the electric drive vehicle market are also key to other demanding markets dealing with harsh environments and increasing power electronics content, including aerospace and military applications. The goal of this session is to provide attendees with insights into issues related to transportation power electronics and the associated power sources necessary to meet the cost and performance needs of electric drive vehicles.”
APEC Industry Sessions provide an opportunity for attendees to interact with other professionals who are active in specific areas of the power electronics industry and to learn about innovative technologies key to successfully supporting their markets. The PSMA Transportation Power Electronics Committee encourages attendees of APEC 2016 to attend this informative Industry Session and to consider participating in the other PSMA-sponsored meetings during the week.
