In partnership with aigo, the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer, Legend Silicon Corp. has created a new product that allows users to view high-definition television anywhere at any time. The USB Dongle, designed around Legend Silicon’s demodulation chipset and aigo’s mobile digital devices, will enable Chinese consumers to view terrestrial HDTV being programmed by China Central Television (CCTV) on their own laptops, just in time for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
“It is well known that Legend Silicon Corp. is the leader in developing core technology for China Digital Terrestrial Television (DTTV) in China,” said Yong Wei, general manager of the Mobile Video Department of aigo. “The USB Dongle, developed by Legend Silicon, will be the first aigo product in this new field. We believe that aigo will lead a new trend in consumer electronics with the launch of this product.”
With an estimated 800,000 foreign tourists and 15 million local viewers expected to tune in to the 2008 Olympic Games, the launch of the USB Dongle comes at an opportune time. As Yong Wei stated, “People can use the USB Dongle as the most advanced, most economical and most convenient way to enjoy the Olympic Games, anywhere and any time, just plugging it into their computers.”
