Eaton Corp. announces the launch of the Power Xpert 200E gateway, an intelligent solution that collects energy usage data from meters, enabling customers to benchmark energy usage, set energy management goals, determine the effectiveness of energy management initiatives, and reduce energy costs. The Power Xpert 200E gateway reports on energy usage at the device, building, and campus levels, indicating energy usage trends and developing a baseline to enable customers to maximize energy efficiency.
Enabling customers to measure and verify energy usage, the Power Xpert 200E gateway acquires data that can be instrumental in helping both existing and new buildings take advantage of government incentives. Customers can use the data from the Power Xpert 200E gateway for existing buildings to obtain the EPA's ENERGY STAR label, and for new buildings to earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits through the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Power Xpert 200E gateway is engineered to be used as a data acquisition tool for serially communicating energy meters – through an embedded web server or connected to Ethernet-based applications – including enterprise management, demand response, and smart grid programs. With the Eaton Digital Input Module, the Power Xpert 200E gateway can also monitor water, air, gas, electric, and steam meters, so that customers can monitor energy usage patterns and identify opportunities for efficiency and improvements. No software is required to access energy data, yet the data is importable into other systems.
Additionally, the Eaton Power Xpert 200E gateways can be used with the Power Xpert Energy Viewer, a free software download. The Power Xpert Energy Viewer provides a simple way to gather key energy parameters and display them in easy-to-read reports to make informed power management decisions.
