IC Acquires, Conditions & Converts Signals

March 1, 2000

With a 4-channel differential/8-channel single-ended mux, precision programmable gain instrumentation amplifier, 12-bit successive approximation A/D converter, and a voltage reference, the ADS7870 chip is primed to handle a host of portable and battery-powered data acquisition assignments. The data acquisition system-on-a-chip is designed to offer complete signal conditioning and conversion capabilities for industrial process control, medical, scientific, and communication applications.
The IC also includes a 4-bit digital I/O addressed through the serial interface, which allows the use of SPI, QSPI, Microwire, and 8051-family protocols without glue logic. In a SSOP-28 package, ADS7870 costs $3.90 each/1000.
