Mini Tactile Switch Reduces Height, Footprint

April 1, 2001

Retaining all of the features of the company's Alcoswitch-brand 6 mm tactile switch, the new 4 mm version measures just 1.7 mm high. With a cycle rating up to 100,000 cycles, the switch is supplied with gull-wing style surface-mount leads and is designed to withstand the surface mount process. The switch is said to have good tactile feedback and can be used in many consumer, industrial and commercial electronic products. Rated at 20 mA at 15 Vdc, the moving portion of the contact is constructed of silver clad stainless steel and the fixed contact is made of silver plated brass. The actuator is made of brass and the cover is nickel silver. The switch comes in two actuation force versions to give a choice of tactile feel. One requires 260 gf ±50 gf, while the lower actuation-force model requires 160 gf ±50 gf. Price is $0.28 each/100,000.
