Card Readers Support A Variety Of Protocols

Nov. 1, 1998

Designed for payment system applications such as point-of-sale systems, kiosks and automatic teller machines, V4 series consists of four small-profile manual IC card readers. The readers conform to worldwide payment system standards, including Europay-Master-Visa (EMV) specifications and the ISO7816 standard. The models comply with EMV v2.0 and support T=0 and T=1 protocols. Card activation is performed by analyzing the answer-to-reset from the card and automatically setting the protocol in the card reader to ensure that there is no change in the communication between host and card reader, even if various cards are used. When a communication error occurs, the card reader recovers by itself. Each card reader has an RS-232 interface.
