12-Bit A/D Converter Claims Low-Power Title

Dec. 1, 1999

At 170 mW, the SPT7937 12-bit monolithic a/d converter is said to function at 40% lower power than its nearest competitor. The device is capable of minimum sample rates of 28 Msps with a single 5V supply. It incorporates proprietary parallel SAR circuit design and CMOS processing. The on-chip track-and-hold function assures excellent dynamic performance without need for external components. The converter is suited for video, medical and IR imaging as well as digital communications. It’s useful in virtually all high-speed applications in which low power dissipation is required. A wide 250-MHz input bandwidth enables it to be used in direct IF down conversion communication applications
