In addition to claiming to be the most cost-effective, fastest high-performance monolithic 16-bit self-calibrating A/D converter on the market, the SPT8100 also boasts of an enhanced resolution plus a high dynamic range. The device can process 5 Ms/s and includes an on-chip programmable gain amplifier. With a 16-bit resolution, the company claims the device can increase the resolution of a scanner or digital copier to 48 bits. The device, with an industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and housed in a 10 mm x 10 mm TQFP package, costs $36 each/1000.
