Stereo Digital Audio Playback SoC Targets High-End Consumer Equipment

Supporting a 24-bit, 192-kHz sampling rate and targeting high-end consumer and professional audio equipment, the AD1955 stereo digital audio playback system-on-a-chip consists of a multi-bit, sigma-delta modulator, digital interpolation filters, and a continuous time differential current output D/A converter. Unique to the audio DAC is its separate Super Audio CD (SACD) bit-stream and external digital filter interface that is said to allow maximum system flexibility. The chip provides 123 dB of dynamic range using its mono mode and is compatible with all known DVD audio formats. It also offers a 120 dB signal-to-noise ratio and 120 dB of dynamic range (both not muted at a 48-kHz sample rate, A-weighted stereo). The AD1955 stereo audio DAC also features a better than -110 dB total harmonic distortion and noise (THD+N) rating, accepts a wide range of Pulse Code Modulation (PCM) sample rates, operates from a 5V supply, and can operate over a -40°C to 105°C temperature range.
