Adapter Brings UltraSCSI Connectivity To FireWire-Equipped PCs And Macs

March 1, 2001

The iConn FireWire-to-SCSI adapter is said to enable an array of UltraSCSI and FireWire peripherals to connect simultaneously to FireWire-equipped Windows-based and Apple Macintosh computers at data speeds nearly 10 times faster than what USB-to-SCSI converters can deliver. An external device measuring just 2.5" x 2.75" x 0.75", the adapter has one 50-pin UltraSCSI connector and two FireWire ports, allowing users to mix and match SCSI and FireWire peripherals. The peripherals can be daisy-chained the same as they are when connected to a computer's SCSI or FireWire port. Other features of the adapter include a transfer rate of up to 20 MB/s, support for synchronized transfer, disconnection/reconnection capability, and support for SBP2 ORB/CDB command set. The FireWire adapter comes with an active UltraSCSI terminator and costs $99.99 each.
