Virtual Machine-Based Tool Tests PLDs That Support Multiple Vendors

The fastest programming times and smallest programming file sizes in the industry are promised with ispVM, a virtual machine-based tool for programming and testing in-system programmable PLDs that supports multiple vendors. The software supports all of the firm's new devices, including the ispLSI. Programming support for Altera and Vantis PLDs is possible through the integrated SVF2VIP translator. This utility covers any existing Lattice, Altera or Vantis SVF file to the ispVM file format. Utilizing a high-speed virtual machine, the software provides a higher performance, multi-platform implementation than a slower interpreted approach such as Altera's JAMTM. Characteristics are fast programming times, smaller device file sizes, and small player size.
