Nov. 1, 2000

Said to consume less than half the power of comparable devices of similar performance, the AK4551 20-bit, delta-sigma stereo codec consumes only 25 mW of power. Offered in a 16-pin TSSOP, it is also claimed to be the industry's smallest stereo codec. Features include an A/D dynamic range of 89 dB and a D/A dynamic range of 92 dB, single-ended inputs and outputs, 2.5V operation, on-chop switched-capacitor post filters, and a built-in high-pas s filter at fc = 3.4 Hz to cancel dc offset. Pricing is $2.91 each/5,000.
