SMD IR Receivers Extend Reach Of Remote Control Systems

Dec. 1, 2001

With a 30-meter reception range, the TSOP52xx family of surface-mount IR receivers is said to have the industry's best reception range. Devices in the series combine a photodetector and preamplifier, mountable in either a top-view or side-view orientation. Measuring only 7.5 x 5.3 x 4 mm, the receivers consume 6 mW typical when operating from a 4.5V to 5.5V supply voltage. They support all major transmission codes and are available with carrier frequencies of 30, 33, 36, 36.7, 38, 40 and 56 kHz. Price is $80/100. VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY, INC., Malvern, PA.
