Motion Processors GainNew Synchronization Capabilities

March 1, 2002

The Navigator and Pilot motion processors have been enhanced with the inclusion of multi-chip, multi-axis synchronization capabilities. Multi-chip synchronization allows more than four axes of motion to be coordinated between the Navigator and Pilot processor chips, or any combination of them. It also enables remote or distributed chips to be synchronized to within microseconds so they can be used for coordinated motion. Also, this feature is backwards compatible in terms of software with existing Navigator and Pilot chips, so they can be enhanced to support synchronization. The Navigator and Pilot are priced at $114 and $28, respectively, each in OEM quantities. PERFORMANCE MOTION DEVICES INC., Lexington, MA. (781) 674-9860.
