Circuit Analysis Tools Predicts Design Problems

Oct. 1, 1999

Design predictability and performance is said to be significantly improved with the DesignScopes tool suite for predicting critical issues related to deep sub-micron IC designs. The program locates potential problems such as circuit integrity, noise margins, and interconnect coupling, using rules-based context-sensitive analysis. Starting with a built-in set of assertions and intelligence, the technology enables continuous enhancement and refinement of the rules. Targeted semiconductor designs include system-on-chip, microprocessors, media and graphics processors, communications ICs and highly integrated ASICs. CircuitScope, the first tool in the design suite, provides analysis of multimillion transistor ICs, guaranteeing coverage of all recognized circuit structures for potential circuit integrity problems such as inconsistent circuit constructions, charge-sharing, static noise margins and coupling.
