Controllers Link PCs To VXI Systems

Sept. 1, 1998

The VXI-1394 interface kit uses the high-speed (400-Mb/s) IEEE 1394 serial bus to link Windows NT/98 PCs to VXI chassis. A low-cost, VXIplug&play-compliant IEEE 1394 (FireWire) interface, the VXI-1394 kit lets a PC perform as though it were plugged directly into the VXI backplane. The interface transparently translates between IEEE 1394 and VXI protocols. Model VXI-1394/G has the same features of the VXI-1394 Slot 0 module, but adds a GPIB connection on the front panel to simplify the control of GPIB instruments.
