With this issue, Electronic Design is officially establishing and opening its Engineering Hall of Fame. It's hard to believe, despite the many astronomical contributions of electronics engineers from the outset of the industry, that there has been no institution or forum akin to the Baseball Hall of Fame to honor the achievements of a lifetime body of work. Electronic Design decided to rectify that situation because the EE has been our target reader from our very first issue in December of 1952. For our class of 2002, we are inducting 58 individuals representing 50 landmark lifetime achievements (some accomplishments involve a team of two or three individuals). You, the readers of Electronic Design, determined the honorees through online voting, and the editors of Electronic Design selected 12 living honorees for feature interviews, representing 10 lifetime achievements across various disciplines.
