Connector Shroud Serves CompactPCI Applications

June 1, 1999

Compatibility with a range of backplane thicknesses to provide required pin mating levels is offered by Z-PACK 2-mm hard-metric Type AB shroud. The AB shroud allows for rear I/O connector alignment and guidance without sacrificing signal count. Its single-piece design also means a reduced parts count and a lower applied cost. Other features include: compatibility with special Type AB receptacles; applicability to feedthrough pin headers; and particular usefulness in rear-I/O applications where pin density is critical. The unit is currently offered in 19 and 22 column sizes; other sizes are possible. The shrouds require male feedthrough connectors with short tails or vacant ground-pin positions in guide feature locations.
