Cold Plates Incorporate Copper Pipes

May 1, 2001

Measuring 20" x 6.5" x 1" and 5" x 12" x 0.5", the PP-6.5x20x1 S three-pass and PP-5x12x0.5 A two-pass cold plates are designed for cooling high-power devices such as laser diodes and power transistors. These plates employ copper pipes buried into the base-plate and the contact surfaces are said to be milled to extreme levels of flatness and smoothness for better heat transfer. Thermal resistance of 0.001°C/W or less can be achieved. Typical applications include high reliability power supplies, RF transmitters, and laser devices. The PP-6.5x20x1 S and PP-5x12x0.5 A are priced at $250 and $40 each, respectively.
