By simply pushing a few buttons, users of the PCS-1000 programmable control system can automate the component and heat sink characterization process. The device works in conjunction with the firm's BWT-100 and CWT-100 Wind Tunnels and is driven by StagePoint, a custom-designed Windows95/NT-based software. The system supports four velocity sensors that can be placed anywhere in the test domain. These sensors control the velocity at the point of interest within ±2%. The system also supports three heating elements, four velocity sensors, four thermocouples and three selectable contact current sources providing 1, 10, and 100 mA current for component characterization. The fully automated data acquisition and control system said to reduce hours of testing to just minutes while maintaining the highest level of accuracy.
