Piezo Switch Offers Safe Operation

Jan. 1, 1999

Approved by TUV UL to the ignition protection-class requirements of EN standard 50020 for intrinsically safe applications, the PSE EX switches are designed for use in potentially explosive environments. Applications can be found in adhesive-laminate, printing, petrochemical and feed and grain industries where the atmosphere contains combustible gases, vapors, dust or fibers that can be set off by an electrical spark. The actuators are fully electronic and use a piezoelectric disk that's completely sealed in a one-piece metal casing. The non-mechanical, contact-free switching system eliminates hazards of mechanical ignition.
