Sensor Eyes Drive-By-Wire Systems

Sept. 1, 1998

With a floating wiper design, this angle position sensor is well-suited for throttle position sensing in drive-by-wire systems or wheel angle sensing in steering systems. The sensor is based on a conductive polymer potentiometer technology, with a raised location diameter aidinbg in centering the sensor spindle concentrically with the user's drive shaft. Options include single, twin and triple tracks for applications requiring redundant controls and an electrical angle range of 60° to 350°. The design also accommodates a 360° mechanical angle. Resistance range is 500 ohms to 5 kiloohms.
