Accelerometers Suited For Monitoring And Control Applications

July 1, 1999

Measuring just 0.6” x 0.8” x 0.21” and weighing less than 4.5 grams, the piezoPAKOEM accelerometer offers designers a small, lightweight, high-performance sensor designed specifically to be easily integrated into OEM designs. When compared with similarly-priced silicon accelerometers, the product is said to have a wider frequency response, lower noise and lower power consumption, making it well-suited for applications such as bearing wear monitoring, machine tool monitoring, structural vibration detection, remote monitoring and portable products.Unlike traditional piezoelectric designs which require constant-current sources for operation, the new devices operate from dc power, leaving them suited to battery and standard 5V or 12V supplies. They’re insensitive to EFI and RFI, are sealed against harsh environments, are ground isolated and are configured with five low-impedance solder pads for connection.
